| Bridgefest
was organized to celebrate the "birthday" of the Portage
Lake Lift Bridge, which provides a vital link between the
communities of Houghton and Hancock, as well as a link to the
Keweenaw Peninsula. The celebration includes
many
events,
including shows, concerts, contests, boat tours, sporting events, and the
annual Bridgefest parade and fireworks display. The waterfront provides
a venue for most activities as well as arts, crafts, and and
vendor exhibits.
Bridgefest is held in conjunction with the Houghton
Rotary Seafood Fest, which provides a variety of delicious
foods including live lobster!
